To refect what we will see, as well as what we could see in Sonic Mania.

Green Hill - Tropical, uses assets from Emerald Hill, Palmtree Panic, & Angel Island
Stardust Speedway - Jungle,
Chemical Plant - Industrial,
Flying Battery - Flying/Industrial,
Mirage Saloon - Desert & Casino, uses assets from Desert Dazzle & Casino Night
Studiopolis - Casino/Carnival, uses assets from Spring Yard

Possible Zones

Aquatic Ruin - Ruins & Underwater,
Mystic Cave - Underground,
Ice Cap or Diamond Dust - Frosty,
Hyrdocity - Underwater Ruins,
Lava Reef or Volcano Valley - Lava,

Sonic 2 Development: Rock World Zone

Rock World is split into two zones.
But which two zones?
There is one situated in the Ruined Present,
And another situated in the Middle Ages.
It is possible that neither would keep the name Rock World,
And also possible that only one was playable.

With the lack of arrows guiding the direct path,
It is plausible that not all points on the map were levels.
Some labels could be present simply to show proximity.

Ruined Present


It is worth noting that only the RP Rock World shows any rocky features.
The MA Rock World seems to be within the secret jungle.
This could lend credence to MA Rock World being Hidden Palace,
And then being excavated into Mystic Cave as of the ruined present.

Unfortunately neither of those stages employ the Banper badnik
which was slated to appear in a Rock World and Sandy Shower.
